Day Two: After breakfast, we head to the Port of
Naples to catch the hydrofoil to the world-renowned island of Capri.
The island is one of the most beautiful in the area with its whitewashed
homes and lush colorful gardens and crystal blue sea. After a tour
of the island and the Blue Grotto, you will be free to shop in the
village or climb up to the ancient villa of Tiberius. Maggie will
be happy to show you the Cartusian monastery and the Gardens of Augustus
for some photographic opportunities. The group will meet in the late
afternoon to return to Villa Giulia for dinner.
Day Three: Naples is a bustling, lively city of contrasts. Once again, we will meet Aldo and he will guide us through town to visit the Duomo to tell of the Miracle of San Gennaro, the Archeological Museum where you will see the best finds of Pompei and Ercolano, then a trip through the very characteristic old part of the city and the underground Roman mosaics. No visit is complete without the original Neapolitan pizza at lunchtime at one of its best pizzerias. Some time will be left, if you wish, for shopping in the smart center of town. Light dinner at villa Giulia.
Day Four: This morning Aldo guides us through Pompei and then return to the villa for an afternoon of relaxation – perhaps a swim in the pool, a massage or relax with a good book in the gardens. Dinner at the villa.
Day Five: No trip to Campania is complete without seeing the magnificent Amalfi Coast. We will stop at any of the beautiful villages along the coast that you choose, which could be Vietri for its famous ceramics or Sorrento for inlaid wood workshop to learn about local crafts. Our private bus travels along the coastline with stops for photos and markets. Lunch will be at a family-run restaurant in the village of Priano, where you will enjoy the local seafood overlooking the breathtaking view of the sea and mountainside villages. We return to Villa Giulia for a light dinner.
Day Six: The trip ends with a visit to a local winery
to taste the variety of wines offered in the region. We return to
Villa Giulia for a general free cooking class with Giulia. She will
show you how to cook a Neapolitan dinner and then invite you to enjoy
the rewards of the class.
Cooking class lessons can be given every night with your dinners upon
request.
